Cette année, avec l’aide de quelques amis, nous avons entrepris de créer de toute pièce deux recueils de nouvelles pour l’anniversaire de deux sœurs adeptes de littérature. Placées au centre de chacun des récits, les deux jeunes femmes incarnent tour à tour différents rôles dans plusieurs styles littéraires.

This year, with the help of a few friends, we undertook to create two collections of short stories from scratch for the birthdays of two sisters. Placed at the centre of each story, the two young women take turns playing different roles in different literary styles.

Ainsi, j’ai pu apprendre à surmonter les contraintes inhérentes à cet exercice et ainsi approfondir ma connaissance du milieu du print.
This book was an opportunity for me to master the creative process, from writing the content to printing it, illustrating the cover and layout of the texts. Thus, I was able to learn to overcome the constraints inherent to this exercise and thus deepen my knowledge of the print environment.
L’illustration de la couverture fit l’objet d’un gros travail de réflexion. Plusieurs prototypes furent proposés et la difficulté résidait dans le risque de représenter l’une des nouvelles du recueil au détriment des autres.
Le résultat s’avère donc particulièrement chatoyant et cohérent au regard des récits qui composent ce livre. Chaque version peut être lue indépendamment de l’autre et il n’y a pas d’ordre de découverte. En conséquence, seule la couleur de l’illustration permet de les distinguer.
The illustration of the cover was the subject of a lot of thought. Several prototypes were proposed and the difficulty lay in the risk of representing one of the stories in the collection to the detriment of the others.
The result is therefore particularly shimmering and consistent with the stories in this book. Each version can be read independently of the other and there is no order of discovery. Consequently, only the colour of the illustration can distinguish them.
En ce qui concerne la police d’écriture, j’ai opté pour Libre Baskerville, pour son design subtil qui convient parfaitement aux romans fantastiques, sans pour autant y être cantonnée. L’interlignage permet une lecture fluide sans accroc et chaque ligne respecte les standards de l’édition.
As for the writing font, I opted for Libre Baskerville, for its subtle design that is perfectly suited to fantastic novels, but not limited to them. The interlining allows a smooth reading and each line respects the editing standards.
